The 100 Day Project, Day 38
Yesterday when I printed on that stunning Hahnemühle Photo Rag Metallic paper, I knew that this photo — Rivulets in Rose Gold— would be today’s image. The silvery metallic surface is the perfect way to capture the shimmering of the sea in this photo. The printed artwork is simply stunning. The video that will accompany this post is not the correct medium to truly capture the luminosity of the print. It’s a close to glowing as I can get a print to be.
I made this image in 2017. On my very first visit to Vinalhaven Island in Maine. I knew the moment the shutter clicked that it was going to be a beautiful photograph, and also an exceptionally tricky one to print.
I’ve tried printing it a few times. Unhappy with the outcome, I put this photo back into my image archive to wait for it’s time. Today was it. A rewarding lesson in patience.
About the 100 Day Project: A global creative challenge where thousands of artists share a piece of their practice every single day for 100 days. I'm joining creatives around the world, and I'm excited to bring you along. Each day I'll be sharing one of my photos — some recent, some old, and some from my current project — along with the story behind it: where I was, who I was with, and why I love it.
